Mar 9 Prompt: After completing the assignments on making college affordable and finding the best college fit, what is one thing you learned that you did not know before? Why do you think this information is important for seniors to understand?

Prompt Response: After completing the assignment one thing I learned that I didn't know before is how the sticker price isn't actually what most college students pay. it surprised me how much college cost and not as affordable.

Mar 5 Prompt: Writing is a process, and the first draft is rarely perfect. Strong writers improve their work through revision. After reviewing and revising your literary argument paragraph, what changes did you make to strengthen your writing?:

Prompt Response: After reviewing my writing a change I made was changing the pov I was writing it in I was writing it as a 3rd person pov but I changed it to the a 1st person pov. This change changed the way my writing sounded and looked.

Mar 4 Prompt: Today we discussed why academic writing must reflect your own thinking and understanding rather than relying on artificial intelligence to generate your ideas. After learning about the expectations for authentic writing, reflect on why it is important for students to write essays in their own words

Prompt Response: Its important for students to write essays on their own words instead on AI because writing with your own ideas helps you learn about what your write. If you write just copying you don't learn as much as you would if you wrote it in your words.

Mar 3 Prompt: Today we focused on constructing a strong literary argument paragraph about Wild and whether discomfort is necessary for meaningful personal growth. After working through the claim-evidence-analysis structure, explain which part of the paragraph was most challenging for you and why. Do you find it more difficult to create an arguable claim or to move beyond summary in your analysis?

Prompt Response: The part that was hard for me was the analysis part. It was more easy to find evidence but I couldn't find a way to connect it to my claim. I find it more difficult to to move beyond the summary because it takes more thinking to explain the meaning.

Mar 2 Prompt: Reflect on your experiences with essay writing. What aspects of writing essays do you find most engaging or challenging? Discuss your personal strengths as a writer as well as specific areas where you experience difficulty or would like to improve. Support your reflection with clear examples from your own writing experiences.

Prompt Response:  From my experiences in writing essays the part I find most engaging is when ideas just come to your head and you write constantly. The parts in writing essays I am good at is coming up with ideas as I write but the parts I need work on is being able to word them to write them down the ideas I have in my head. An example of this is when I was writing a essay about a book in 11th grade literature I had the ideas in my head but couldn''t come up with ways to write it down so my grade didn't come how I Wanted it to.

Feb 25 Prompt: Reflect on the simile and metaphor worksheet. Which topic challenged you the most when creating your figurative language, and why? In your response, explain what made that topic difficult and how you worked through the challenge (or what you might do differently next time).

Prompt Response: While doing the simile and metaphor worksheet the topic that challenged me the most was was all of them because I had to really think about topics I could relate to and topics I could use to create similes and metaphors. It was challenging for me but I worked through it by really thinking about topics I could relate to and just brainstorming different similes and metaphors.

Feb 24 Today you created similes and metaphors that reflect your struggles, growth, and resilience. In a well-developed paragraph, reflect on the process. What did you learn about yourself while writing your figurative language?

Prompt Response: While I wrote my figurative languages about my self I learned that I am a straight forward person. This is something new I learned about my self because previously I didn't think I was a straight forward person but as I wrote and came up with similes and metaphors I learned that I would come up with straight forward person.

Feb 23 Describe how you spent your time, any activities, traditions, travel, hobbies, or moments that stood out to you. You may also discuss something new you tried, something you learned, or how the break helped you reset before returning to school. Keep your response appropriate for a school setting and focus on experiences you are comfortable sharing publicly

Prompt Response: During the break I worked the whole week and went out at night. Something new I tried that week was playing billiards. Which I learned pretty easily going mostly at night when I would get off work.

Feb 13 Prompt: If you had to describe how you show love using only three objects (for example: a playlist, a hoodie, a late-night snack, a long text message, etc.), what would you choose and why? Explain what each object represents and how it connects to your personality

Prompt  Response: If I were to describe how I show love using 3 objects the objects would be a phone, food, and outdoors. I say phone because I use this to communicate with the person making sure we both are good. For food I would say this shows love because me sharing food or eating with someone is something I wouldn't do with everyone so it's a trustful moment. And outdoors because me spending time with you in the outdoors means I trust the person.

Feb 11/12 Consider your experience reading The Color Purple (a fictional novel), Fences (a play/drama), and Wild (a nonfiction memoir). Which type of longer text did you enjoy the most, the novel, the play, or the memoir, and which did you find the most challenging? Explain your preference, describe what made that type of text more engaging or accessible for you, and reflect on how understanding your preference might influence how you approach future readings.

Prompt Response: After reading these 3 texts I would say the one I enjoyed the most was the color purple (fictional novel). The one I found most challenging to me was the color purple because of just how much reading it has and you have to read it to understand. The color purple made me feel more engaged because of how it makes you understand what they are saying so I understand more. Now in the future I know what type of books to look for.
